2016 Community Impact Grants

The Columbus Area United Way board of directors has recently approved ten community impact grants for the following organizations.

·       A Place at the Table – Backpack Program ($10,000)

·       Center For Survivors – Revolution Outreach Program ($3,500)

·       Columbus Public Schools Foundation - Columbus Community Inclusive Playground ($2,000)

·       Communities Together Can! After School Program ($3,862)

·       Legal Aid of Nebraska – Sustainable Living Project ($2,500)

·       Northeast Nebraska Child Advocacy Center ($8,000)

·       Northeast Nebraska Coalition for Suicide Prevention ($4,000)

·       Royal Family KIDS Camp Columbus 2016 ($10,000)

·       T4C Anti-Gang Coalition – Summer Park Program/Youth Activities Scholarship Program ($8,000)

·       Youth For Christ – Healthy Hearts and Souls ($7,100)

Funding for community impact grants comes from a percentage of the annual earnings of the United Way Endowment, which was established in 1992.

The Community Impact Grant program was established in 1996 by the United Way Board of Directors to provide health and human service agencies and organizations an opportunity to seek funds for immediate and creative responses to the most pressing human needs in the area of education, income and health.  Community Impact Grants applications are available annually in March and awarded in August.
