On February 15th, United Way hosted the first annual Community Connections event at the Columbus Community Center. The meeting provided an opportunity for local health and human services organizations to share information on the programming, and learn about other services in the community. Participants shared information and networking among attendees. They also had the opportunity to build working relationships and awareness of all the resources available in the community to serve individuals and families. Besides United Way staff, a total of 38 professionals representing 22 organizations attended. We thank the Community Center staff for their hospitality!
During the rest of the year, United Way will facilitate a bi-monthly networking meeting focusing on organizations providing assistance with basic needs and those who refer often to these services. It is held on the third Wednesday of every other month at 1:00 p.m. at various locations throughout the community. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, April 19th.
