Since the United Way began in Columbus in 1941, over $15 million has been raised and reinvested back into the Columbus Area “to focus resources to improve individual lives and build a strong community.” However, the true success we celebrate today is much more than dollars raised, it is the lives of so many that have been changed for the better.
The United Way is committed to creating opportunities for a better life for all by focusing on the building blocks for a good life: Education, Income, and Health. We will achieve this through our partner agencies, direct programs, and community collaborations.
Recently, the United Way has chosen to focus on early childhood education in our community.
Research shows that 38% of children in Platte County and 53% in Colfax County are at risk of failing in school and later in life.
To solve this problem and ensure that our kids have the best chance for success, the United Way is committed to supporting children and students from birth through career readiness through collaborating with community organizations and funding impactful programs and initiatives.
As we look toward the future, we will continue to improve lives in our community only through continued support from people like you. When we give together, so much more is possible.
