COLUMBUS AREA UNITED WAY USING THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY

TO SHED LIGHT ON IMPORTANT COMMUNITY RESOURCES

 

Columbus, Nebraska – Columbus Area United Way is using the month of February to focus on community resources using 211. 211 is a one-stop source of information for people in need of assistance and is accessible to people across the United States. Columbus Area United Way is a proud partner and supporter of 211. 

211 can offer referrals to many types of services in our communities including basic human needs, health insurance programs, employment supports, support for children, youth, and families and support for older Americans and people with disabilities. According to ne211.org, over 21,000 total contacts in the state of Nebraska have been made to 211 since the beginning of 2026 with the top needs being housing, income support and utilities. 

February is 211 Month for the beginning two in their number and February 11th is seen as 211 day for the 11th day of February. To bring awareness to this impactful program, two digital billboards will run in the month of February, both located on 26th Street in Columbus. 

There are multiple ways to contact 211 to receive resources. You can call 2-1-1 or toll-free 866-813-1731, text “HELP” to 898211, search the online search engine at 211.org or ne211.org (for Nebraska), live chat with a representative, or via email. You will then be connected to a specialist who will assess your needs and provide a list of referrals to community resources. 211 also offers interpreter services in over 240 languages.
